product very good but plug mechanism on water tubing anchor is hard to un-open later and ruptures the plastic cusing leakage.

1 out of 5 stars Texport does not fairly advertise the Netting product shipped   September 8, 2009

Product I am reviewing: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P9D08A/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title

My neighbors have a netting like this and I have been looking for a while. And boy does it "look" like my neihbor's. Texport in the product description claimes "This net is designed for use with a 9-ft patio umbrella."

I have a 9' umbrella, and half way lowered, the netting would not reach the deck all the way down, the means of holding the bottom to the ground, in my case Deck, I would have to drill holes for the stakes. In addition the only manner of weighting the bottom were sand bags spaced about 6' feet apart. In our area, mosquitos laugh at nets like this.

To their credit, when I called the vendor and mentioned some of these short commings, they promptly refunded my money, minus restorcking fee.

This is Lee (found a better one which was also less than half in price), on another shopping site.

The umbrella netting set up very easily with only me to assemble it. It took
maybe an hour - most of the time inserting the rods into the sleeve along
the bottom edge. I have a 7 ft. umbrella and lowered it a bit to fit well on the brick patio. The pocket extensions with weights on them provide more
stability. A very nice product for this buggy Summer and well priced.

4 out of 5 stars Great with a few easy mods   July 7, 2009

While this product does suffer from the shortcomings described by previous reviewers (too short, too wide, falls off when you close the umbrella), a couple simple modifications made it nearly perfect.

Length was not a problem, but my umbrella is only 7' wide and 6' off the ground at the edge. Wider or taller umbrellas will probably leave the bottom dangling in the air. (Another reviewer has offered a creative solution to this.)

The net was much too wide for my 10' deck, but this was easily fixed by removing a few sections of the shock-corded hoop. Yes, the bottom bunches a bit, but it still looks and works fine.

Since I close and cover my umbrella frequently, I also needed to solve the problem of getting the net easily reinstalled each time the umbrella was opened. I tied four strings (about 24" long) to the peak of the umbrella, and tied a spring-loaded clip to the end of each string. Attaching the top loop of the net to the clips before opening the umbrella holds the net in position and allows both to go up together without a struggle.

This is a good, simple product for a reasonable price. Now I enjoy my dinner in peace, while the mosquitoes look elsewhere for theirs!

3 out of 5 stars Size matters!   July 2, 2009

I ordered this product last Friday because I wanted to sit on my patio on Saturday but after all this rain..the mosquitos and gnats were insane! I got it Saturday morning which was great! Ok, the worst part was I had to put it together. Well, my husband I did it and it took about 15-20 minutes. As one reviewer mentioned it is definitely too small for the 9inch umbrella! But, since I am adventurous and decided I would make it work, I cut the elastic that goes over the umbrell at each seam to open it up more and started with shorter cuts and made them larger going all the way around until the screen hit the ground. There was plenty of material still on the top of the umbrella so it wouldn't slide off. The hardest part were those poles that go around the bottom that never really matched up perfectly. But, the material is very sturdy, the mosquito's or gnats can't get in unless they sneak in when you open the zipper. I know I can't send it back because I cut it, but it works fine now!
