Best one yet! July 12, 2010 M. Cozzens (rural NW Pennsylvania) We have lots of books on foraging and wild plants, but this is by far the favorite. It actually saved me from feeding something poisonous to my family - I thought it was an edible berry, but nope! (Glad I checked!) This book is better than the others we have because the pictures are in color, descriptions are complete. A must for anyone just starting out with foraging and I'd bet it would be great for even seasoned foragers. Money well spent!
The Forager's Harvesto0o0o0o0 July 5, 2010 Sara Winters (Spruce Pine NC) I received the book one day early and am pleased with it's condition.I would buy from this company again.
At last, an honest book on wild edibles April 23, 2010 Steven Welch (Michigan) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is by far and wide the best book on wild edibles I have ever owned and I own over a dozen. The only problem is that I wanted more. The treatment of each plant was complete and honest. Clearly from someone that had actually gathered all of the plants that he writes about and not some regurgitation of what has been previously written, but not necessarily tried by the author. Good Work! Please give us another.
The Forager's Harvest. April 9, 2010 Nathan Carlos Rupley (Lancaster County, PA) A very well written book. Each plant is treated with great attention to detail, and an obvious passion that can only come from personal experience. This book is not intended to cover a huge number of different plants, but the ones it does cover are all worthwhile plants to learn.
Love it, just wish it had more April 4, 2010 Serena Gaefke (USA) I gave this book 5 stars because it is excellent. It has multiple colour pictures of the plant in question and sometimes of the plant's dangerous look-alike (even amongst good books, not all have colour photos). The author speaks from experience - he eats the plants he tells you you can eat. I like that. He also shares his funny little stories about each one. Besides pictures there is a discussion on the plant's description, range and habitat and harvest and preparation. The only thing that could be better would be if there were more plants in the book. Maybe he could produce a second book with some more? I would buy it.
