Portable Gas Stove March 10, 2010 W. Gorski (Bozeman,MT.) Great item...heats fast and clean. The gas cartridges are cheap and last 6-8 hours...this stove is very well made and a bargin for the price.
as good as the expensive ones in the gormet shops February 10, 2010 Paul H. Wyand (Plattakill, NY) I bought this because I am living in an apartment and will only be there for 2 months. I have to pay to get propane delivered, and they want $180 to set it up. I figured that is not worth it for a few months. The product is great and is actually heavier duty than some I have seen in restaurant supply houses. The pan is actually nice for a freebie, but I do not use non stick cookware, so I will likely give it away. I did use it once just to see how cooked. The only problem I have with it is that it was advertised as quote:
"*** Usage a)The stove is safe and easy to use and goes anywhere. b)Great for work cooking,boating,camping,tailgating,backyard/patio or right on your dining room table.
On the side of the burner it states it is for outside use only. I don't know many dining room tables that are outside, but I figure it will not be too dangerous, as I would have 4 burners going on a stove. The surface underneath it does not get hot at all, not even after cooking a stew for an hour on it. It works well, I just wish the butane cans were easier to get and lasted longer. I found only one local place that carries it and they have normal business hours.
It gets quite hot, so even though I am used to chimerical burners (used to be a chef)I find it gets things hot quickly enough. I would recommend it, with the only caveat the fact that they advertise it for indoor and it says for outdoor on the device.
Really Does the Job! November 16, 2009 Stephen Matthews (Alameda, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was the second one of this type of unit I have tried. First one was junk, threw it away. This one is perfect! Everything works as described. I'm now separated from my electricity-sucking electric range. And cooking is far easier with the instant on/off/up/down of a burning fuel.
Interestingly the 'Marble Fry Pan' that comes packaged is pretty decent as well. I expected a 'value added piece of ..' type of affair but this is a decent frying pan, well suited to the burner it accompanies.
Have not found local source for butane canisters yet, but Amazon pricing not too bad. The canisters last me literally for hours when using low flame but empty relatively fast on high flame.

I'm currently taking culinary classes at a local college. We use a similar stove in class. I have electric at home and wanted to continue working with gas. I use this burner for my more delicate cooking tasks at home, where heat control is essential, and it is perfect. It's also the perfect backup when power goes out.

Wish product would have come with a complimentary can of gas. That would really be nice.
