Brght March 4, 2010 Ken Kizer (Murfreesboro, TN) Very bright light. Don't flash into your eyes. Good for emergencies and handy to have around the house. Gave it to my mom for when the lights go out from storms.
One Tough, Solid, Little Light... February 17, 2010 Ambergris (New England.....USA) Like a lot of other reviewers here on Amazon, I am a self confessed flashlight nut. I have owned quite a few different brands over the years. I bought a couple of these Neikos for around the house, as well as for walking at night. (And of course two of them qualified for the free shipping. Anyone that can use one flashlight can usually use two just as well). This Neiko is the big brother to the other Neiko model that has 21 LED. I decided to opt for the little larger one at a couple of dollars more since the length and overall design of both is just about the same. That is, compact enough to fit inside your hand, but very solidly built. The front crown on the this one being a little larger of course.
This 28 LED light is a little bigger and brighter than the 21 LED. But the difference ends there. They are both very quality designed in a thick heavy aluminum. The button on the bottom for turning it on and off is a much better and easier system over the confounded turn style you see in a lot of small lights. Unless you're rather dexterous with your fingers, you need two hands to turn any twist style light on and off. Quite the pain sometimes when you're busy with your hands already and need a light. This Neiko will serve anyone quite well on a one handed basis. Both lights operate on three AAA batteries that install in a cylinder inside the unit. Although some folks here have talked about the battery contacts being finicky at times, I have never had that problem with any of these lights. Even if that problem should arise for you, it is something easily fixed with adjusting the contacts inside. The light on this Neiko is very bright, and although the head is not adjustable, the diameter of the beam is very acceptable and accommodating. Like all LED lights, the batteries in this light, even cheap ones, last for a very long time. I walk every night for over two months easily before even thinking about checking the batteries. What I am most impressed with as to this light is its heavy solid build, especially the protective cap over the LEDs. I was rather taken back by the large number of LED flashlights on Amazon that cost far more than this Neiko, and do not have any protective cover over their diodes at all. Sometimes just a plastic lens that can be totally exposed to any and all shocks and knock abouts that may occur. Not only does this Neiko have a protective shield on its lens, but it is the toughest and heaviest one could encounter on any flash light in my opinion. It is the most impressive part of this very solidly built and reasonably priced light.
In conclusion, this is a very fine choice for most chores that one would ever need a flashlight for. Its very solid, very bright, and always readily available here on Amazon. I have looked for this light in stores here and have personally never seen them anywhere. Not to say that they don't exist locally where you are, but they may indeed be hard to find. Buying them here on Amazon is very convenient, reasonably priced, and also purchased from a very reliable merchant. I have tried my best to pass along to you this lights one possible liability issue. Hopefully I have explained it all well enough for you to make a better educated decision on its possible purchase for yourself. For me, the quality, performance, and price of this light far outweigh the one possible downside. I have been very pleased with it and highly recommend it...
Works when it wants to February 3, 2010 Neo2000x (Boston, MA) There seems to be a reoccurring theme with these reviews - this product is very unreliable. The flash light does not always make a connection with the battery so the it flickers a lot. Also, my flash light came with 1 led that did not work. I'll have to open this thing up to figure out the problem. Save your $$ and get something else. I got the Super Brite 9 led flash light and it's just as bright, cheaper, and very reliable.
