4 out of 5 stars Good Camping Companion Excellent Storage   January 30, 2010
K. Cole (Los Angeles)
I purchased this item just as camping season was starting. I needed something to store food goods and other essentials plus a surface to prepare food and wash dishes that was packable and had as small footprint as possible since packing space is always at a premium.

The table arrived with a small dent in the side top edge just at the place where the table hinges together and folds. At first I was going to send it back, but my son-in-law was able to fix it so that the table opened evenly and stayed opened and level. This was and is my only disappointment with this table/storage unit.

The table itself along with the heavy duck zippered compartments fold easily into an transportable must have item that slips easily into our back of car packing system taking up little room. Upon arrival at the campsite, the table opens into a fully usable surface with good storage underneath. The cotton duck cloth that is used to make the storage closets is heavy and seems durable..after one season of heavy use there are no signs or wear. Each compartment zips open and closed and has a thin panel of pressed wood that fits at the bottom of the compartment making the surface flat and stable. (These panels, I am sure will need to be replaced as they are thin and somewhat fragile) My 3 year old has already cracked one, but this too was fixed with a piece of duck tape for the time being. I checked at our local Lowes Hardware and this same pressed wood is available very cheap. I think that I would replace it however, with a bit thicker version of the same thing.

The storage compartments hold a ton of goods from plates and silverware to can goods, boxes of cereal, coffee, condiments,, etc. Everything inside is easy to get to as the compartments zip/unzip completely around the entire front. I use one side for my plates, cups, wash cloths and towels, dish soap and other eating/cooking utensils and the other side for storage of dried and canned food goods. ( This storage unit is NOT BEAR Safe..if you are camping in an area of active bear activity follow the rules for food storage recommended by the park you are staying at)

The top of the table seems at first somewhat flimsy, but it is durable and strong. It has a plastic laminate on the surface probably over pressed wood. It easily supports two full dish sinks and during meal preparation offers plenty of work space for preparing meals. I highly recommend using a cutting board on top of surface and not ever cutting directly on the surface of the table itself. Water and liquid spills wipe up easily and have caused no damage to the surface.

The table sets up easily and the legs are adjustable each side can be adjusted so setting up on an uneven surface is no problem.

I am overall very happy with this purchase and have used the table for 4 to 5 trips each lasting from 7 days to 3 to 4 days. It has become an essential packing item and I would not leave home without it. Even in active bear country, it can be used to store non-food items and still be used to prepare food for cooking. I do not put our cook stove on this table and I would not recommend it for a cooking surface. As a food and cooking utensil storage unit it fits the bill.

I would recommend this item to anyone who needs extra storage space and a stable surface for food prep. It is a very good camping companion and sold at a reasonable price. Even if I have to replace the bottoms of the storage compartments over time...I think this table will last a few years of camping and that it was money well spent.

4 out of 5 stars Great for week-long camps!   September 16, 2009

I love this table! I use it for week-long camps. It makes organizing my tent a breeze.

I went to Home Depot and got some wooden board to use for a shelf across the legs.

Four stars not five because the hinges are beginning to warp slightly and look like they might need replacing at some point.

5 out of 5 stars very useful camping table--love it!   July 21, 2009

This table folds down to a nice tight size that fit easily into our hatchback along with our tent and other camping supplies. A handy clasp keeps it from opening up on you until needed and the legs brace open like a card table. The top is easy to clean arborite-type plastic. It fits beautifully in the 'screen room' compartment of our Wenzel Mackinac Family Dome Tent with room for two Eddy Bauer folding chairs. The two canvas shelves are very handy to hold games, books, condiments, towels, etc. We use this table for eating and game playing. We love it!
