Shaky February 3, 2010 nehopsa I knew I needed st a little larger for my frame @6' & 240 lb. This cot is rated at 300 pounds. Well...maybe. But not half a pound more. I feel I am exceeding its limit at my 240 pounds already. I cannot imagine any "jumbo" of 300 pounds on this one. If you ARE a jumbo person you need not a jumbo cot but super super super jumbo cot.
It is nicely tall so you can stick some of your stuff underneath. But there is a penalty for feeling high as you also feel shaky shaky and at times you wonder when you exceed its structural integrity and fall/fold down ignominiously. In particular I do not trust the hinges. Sb. here suggested you cannot keep company on this one. ABSOLUTELY NOT. You would cause wild harmonic oscillations if you attempted anything.
If I knew how it would feel I am sure I would have bitten the bullet and worked out st 30-40 bucks more expensive with double the nominal carrying capacity (at least 600 pounds). I would also go for something a little longer and a little wider even though I am more than happy I avoided the really narrow and short ones. Now I need to decide if I am returning this one or not. I will probably keep it. Too much hassle returning.
Other that that the cot is about fine. I was afraid the assembly would be a pain and I would need some superhuman strength to stretch the fabric but stretching is just fine. My thumb can do it.
The fabric seems OK to me. Yes, it creases when you fold it every day as I do but this is expected.
You need a substantial real estate to assemble the cot as you unfold and swing wild its legs. I was thinking about using it in my van from time to time but I am not sure about this one and have not tried yet. Most likely you would need to step outside the van to assemble/disassemble. Not what I expected/wanted. This is the penalty for having a compact cot essentially in one piece (you would not lose any of those little little essential essential pieces down the road). You need some space to fold/unfold the cot.
Firm, Comfortable, Large January 30, 2010 Danielle N. Freda (Indiana, USA) Pretty good! Stable, easy to set up (I'm six months pregnant and I didn't have a problem). Very firm with a lot of support and its a good size! Perfect!
Let her rip. November 12, 2009 Azoic (Portland, Oregon United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had two of these jumbo camp cots (one was a replacement)and I must say that unless you use this thing sparingly, be prepared for the canvas fabric to rip and tear along it's longitudinal seams. This renders this cot useless/non-repairable.I am 250 lbs.It is supposed to be rated to 300 lbs. Caveat Emptor.
Great for camping! September 18, 2009 Jamie Britton Blanck (Indianapolis, IN United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This cot was great on a recent camping trip, with the bonus that it is tall enough that my plastic storage totes fit right under it. Made for a much less cluttered and relaxing trip. Very comfy for sleeping.
Good cot, just a bit wobbly or I'd give 5 stars August 15, 2009 W. Bellant (Renton, Wa United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this cot recently when my last one (from a different model and manufacturer) broke. Anyway this one is lighter to carry around but it feels like it will survive well. It's a bit difficult to put the second cross brace on because you have to stretch the nylon to get it to pop in. It's not nearly as bad as the military cots from my army years. Putting those cots together I quickly learned that you need to use something to pry with to get the second cross brace in. A stout tent pole or a piece of wood will do nicely. At home you can use the handle from a shovel or a broom handle if it's made of solid wood (rather than a flimsy metal tube. You'll need the pry bar to get it apart too, otherwise you will struggle with it.
Once the cot is assembled it's comfortable (well as comfortable as any cot) and feels pretty sturdy. The only downside is that the cot wobbles a bit (longways). So it's not very good for some (shall we say) adult activities. The wobble would be distracting. If it weren't for that wobble, I'd give it 5 stars. I would buy this cot again however.
