Product Description The Byer of Maine® Allagash cot brings you a convenient design that packs down to compact size. It's crafted with aluminum rails, spring steel legs and a 30-in x 76-in sleep surface.
Amazon.com Product Description Combining a classic design with modern materials, the Allagash AL folding cot is ideal for family camping, as a spare bed for unexpected guests, or even as an emergency bed in shelters or disaster relief areas. The Allagash AL is tough yet comfortable, with a 600-denier mildew-resistant polyester cover and four flexible spring steel legs that allow the cot to conform to your body to provide a great night's sleep. The cot is also a breeze to set up: just unfold the frame, flip the cot upside down, and insert the steel legs into the aluminum frame. It'll be ready in seconds, so you don't have to fuss before settling down for the night. And despite its tough design, the Allagash AL is lightweight and portable, with a 7-pound frame that collapses into a small footprint that stores easily in a closet or other compact space. The cot's legs even convert into a handle for easy transport. The Allagash AL--which supports up to 250 pounds--measures 76 by 8 by 30 inches (W x H x D) when set up and 38.5 by 6.5 by 2.5 inches when folded. All Byer of Maine products carry a lifetime warranty. About Byer Manufacturing Byer Manufacturing is the oldest supplier of folding cots in the country. Founded in 1880, the company has supplied the U.S. military with durable sleeping cots during World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. 'Seems good March 13, 2010 Ms. Mica (CA - San Francisco & Goleta) I just got it, set it up, and lay on it. It seems very comfortable. I followed the directions carefully to get the legs in, which was a bit of effort, but manageable.
Good and I love it. January 16, 2010 David (MA USA) I am using this 3days a week. Not too (Little bit) hard to set and unset!!! and strong! It is conviniant. But I am enjoying now!!!
fantastic value, very comfortable December 22, 2009 reader (st. louis, mo) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wonderful cot. I'm 5'5" and 120 lbs or so. The size is quite big for me. I think the size would be ample for most people. Very comfortable. Unbeatable value. Very glad I bought this cot!
good deal November 20, 2009 ERICE 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just got back from a 5 night hunting trip using this cot for the first time. I'm over 6' and 210lbs, so here are my thoughts.
Pros:
very comfortable
easy set up (a little muscle is required, but simple to do)
lightweight
fairly compact when disassembled
6'6" long
nice and wide
affordable
Cons:
overall construction might be a bit flimsy. I wouldn't feel confident if I was over 220lbs, and I can see where the frame might break after a couple of years of assembly/disassembly. Also I could see the canvas-like material getting stretched out and you ending up hitting the ground if you're a bigger person.
that's all. It might not be the best overall quality, but it's very comfortable and so affordable. I recommend it over a lot of other more costly cots on the market. Buy with confidence if you're 200lbs or less.
With reservations November 19, 2009 Leffing1 (WV) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This cot is not for "side sleepers" over 200 lbs. I'm 6' 1" & 210 lbs, and within 5 minutes of trying it out the center of one of the metal support legs was touching my hip. By ten minutes, the metal ridge was digging into my hip. If you are less than 220 lbs and sleep on your back this cot may be fine for you provided your physique is disbursed evenly and not in your mid section or rear. Be forewarned, the legs are difficult to insert into the frame and will bend/give a little during assembly. Start in the center and work your way out. This item is lightweight and easy to carry.
