4 out of 5 stars So far, so good   September 24, 2009

It was easy to assemble, stable, and sturdy. It's a very nice portable table. Time will tell if it's durable.

4 out of 5 stars Very good table   August 18, 2009

This table is excellent as it will provide a large prep area or table for 4 friendly people (6 if you use the ends in a pinch). It is rather bulky for mountain bike or back pack (light enough though); but will work fine with pack animals. It would be great if you have a bunch of folks and are car camping or even using the camper. Or just want to eat outside.

The reason that I do not give it five stars is not that it takes a rubber mallet or medium sized gorilla to set up the first time. But, because there is no provision for uneven ground. An attachment for a leg that would allow a max of 4 to 6" adjustment would be fine. It would be fairly easy to make an accessory attachment that would fit over 1 or 2 legs to provide leveling.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent table!   September 10, 2008

I use this as a work table when assembling wooden kitchen cabinets. It's very sturdy and can even be set up with only one side's slats in place. This way you have a large hole on the other half of the table that you can use for jigsawing, drilling, etc., in the middle of your workpiece while the frame around the edge of the tabletop remains to give support to your workpiece. No more hanging the workpiece off the end of the table forcing you to try to hold it down with one arm (or a leg) while cutting with your other arm (or leg?). I guess you have to try it to see what I mean.

I suppose you could even use this as a portable camping table to eat off of!

Just wish it came with an elasticized dernier nylon table cover, similar to the material used to make the bag it comes in. The edges of the slats, although not actually sharp, can scratch stuff you put on the table.

Design and ingenuity here; coupled to make reliable, easy to setup, long lasting table. Mine came with a 'ding' in one of the pieces but Amazon was quick to respond and offered me several soloutions in my favor.

5 out of 5 stars An Easy to Use, Versatile, and Very Sturdy Table   August 17, 2008

I originally bought this table for Scout camping (car camping, that is). I've used it for this purpose over and over in the past year, and it's graduated to supporting school functions, sports barbeques, garage sales, and has even doubled as a workbench. Its versatility has knocked me out, and it has yet to let me down in any way. I have used the heck out of this table, and the only wear it has show is minor scratching on the metal tabletop; no pieces have come loose or off, and nothing has broken.

The set is very simple and consists of the carrying bag, the one-piece legs/table base, three cross-pieces and two slatted table tops (connected with shock cord). For anyone even remotely familiar with this kind of gear, instructions are not necessary, and the whole thing comes together in about 40 seconds. The legs lock at each corner with a hinged metal truss. Take-down takes just a little bit longer, only in that you have to put the legs into the bag first, followed by the two slatted parts in order for it all to fit correctly into the sack.

The specs say that it weighs 14 pounds, but it does not seem that way to me. The package, in its carrying sleeve, just doesn't seem to weigh that much.

Pro:

The table is very sturdy, and in my experience supports a lot of weight. I have placed a lot of gear on this table, up to a completely full 5-gallon cooler of water, a total of over 50 pounds at a time. The table has not shown the slightest bit of stress, no bowing or flexing of any of the components, and no temporary or permanent bends or warps in any parts. I have placed heavy loads all over the table, and it has been stable in all combinations.

The slatted top is very good for outdoor use, as it's very easy to keep clean. A simple wipe and everything just falls right on down through. This does mean, however, that the three cross-pieces will collect debris that falls below, but that's an easy fix on take-down or storage; my solution has been a quick spray with the hose, and everything is ready to go again. I also have put the three cross pieces and two table slat pieces into the dishwasher, and they have come out spotless.

One of the legs is adjustable (through about 6" of travel) to account for uneven ground.

Con:

The table in its carrying case, while not heavy, is a bit bulky. The set is about 6" x 10" x 60" in the bag. This set is not suitable for pack-in/pack-out camping, as it's way too big and unwieldy. This is your trade-off for its sturdiness as the legs and table base are a single, articulated piece, which does not break down further. Everything stays well inside the internally portioned case, which closes at the top with a barrel-locked cord, but the overall package still comes in at over five feet.

The shoulder carry strap is not adjustable. A little bit more webbing, a turn buckle and a sliding plastic buckle would fix this and probably add a dollar to the cost. I'd recommend the addition of these components to give me the option of how I use and wear the shoulder strap. Add a couple of pinch-buckles at each end and the strap would be removable; that would be handy, too.

Sometimes it would be good to have a simple, tightly fitted hand-carrying handle on the sleeve, which is not present. The shoulder strap is the only carrying handle/strap, so when you carry it by the strap it's mighty close to the ground.

A number of experienced campers have complained the table's components come loose. I have never had this problem with this product.

Bottom line: I think this is a great table. Through a lot of use in a short period, it has come through great with minimal wear and no breakage. Recommend.
