more than pleased March 12, 2010 primitive (california, usa) i purchased a few of these jugs to gather spring water from a local source. i would rather have my water in glass, but glass is too pricey for me at this present moment in time and extremely heavy to lift. these jugs serve their purpose wonderfully. they are very sturdy, the water seal for the on/off spigot is very tight, and the additional air flow cap is awesome. i searched other jugs before purchasing these jugs and i would have to say that these jugs were well worth the money spent(the best decision out of all the other similar jugs from other brands that i researched).
Storing water February 24, 2010 K. Levin (Oregon & Massachusetts) I bought one of these and one Reliance brand water jug to test them out. We are trying to have long-term water storage in case of emergencies. I plan to purchase several more of my preferred product for storage.
This product has not leaked in the three months I've had water stored in it. The shape is reasonable and the plastic seems thick and durable. We are not dispensing water from it frequently, so I can't comment on the durability of the spigot. We did opt to wrap a plastic sandwich baggie around the exposed spigot so, if we need to drink the water, the spigot won't be filthy with basement dust. I also accidentally spilled out a gush of water after I filled the jug because it was not obvious that the spigot was open when I tipped it onto its side to check the seal.
In the end, I do prefer the Reliance jug and will be ordering more of that brand. The Reliance spigot stores inside the cap (in the water) which seems less likely to get damaged. Also, that brand was labeled BPA-free, but this Coleman product didn't mention whether it contains BPA. Finally, as a non-athletic woman in her 30's, the 2.5 gallon size Reliance container is more suitable for my ability to easily move the heavy filled jugs around as needed.
Coleman Water Carrier 5-Gallon Blue February 6, 2010 M. Hammond (Coleman, FL) It's tough. It's compact. It is a very good product. It is nice and husky and should hold up really good. I'm going to use it to store 5 gallons of drinking water and use it alot to see how it holds up before I buy any more of them. It is the nicest one I have found so far.
Perfect water carrier February 1, 2010 Catherine L. Cody (Maine) I use the carriers, three of them to haul water daily to my horses during the cold
Maine winters. They are the perfect capacity and of the utmost durability. PERFECT!
glad I found this November 1, 2009 Tom Ruhmann (Belleville, IL) I needed a replacement for an I dentical water container and was really glad to find this one at a price cheaper than what I paid for the original
