Product Description
The one thing that probably discourages more people from purchasing and using cast iron is maintenance. Like carbon steel woks, cast iron cooking pieces require "seasoning." To many this is a mysterious or overly time-consuming process. Even if you treasure fond memories of eggs and pancakes cooked in grandmother's ancient, blackened skillet, you might have no idea how to turn your new pan into such a treasure. Fortunately Lodge has come out with the new Logic line, which has been evenly coated on all surfaces with an electrostatic spray of vegetable oil. Next the cookware is put into an extremely high temperature industrial oven which bakes the coating into the surface. Not only will you be spared the time and effort of seasoning, but also the new piece you buy will look and perform better than if you had seasoned it at home. Just like that heirloom pan you will find that even pineapple upside down cake doesn't stick to this surface. The gently sloped interior of this pan facilitates spatula use and the curved handle keeps the chef comfy.

5 out of 5 stars Great for frying eggs!   March 16, 2010
ben smith (Seattle, WA United States)
I got this pan because I heard so much about teflon being cancer causing, plus my teflon pan just didn't cut it anymore and I was tired of having to scrub it so much and still have food stuck to it's ridges. This pan has been just great, + it has the added bonus of being healthy! I'm going to get the griddle next, to grill the chicken breasts / cheese melts!

4 out of 5 stars Everything OK but the factory seasoning was not perfect   January 3, 2010

With the sloped sides, This is a perfect skillet for sauteing and making omelettes...Lodge designed this one perfect for this. 4 stars because the factory seasoning was not perfect so I re-seasoned.

5 out of 5 stars no complaints   November 10, 2009

5 out of 5 stars smaller than I'd like, but it's a great saute and omelet pan   October 23, 2009

This pan great for sauteing, omelets, and potatoes au gratin. I've also found that it works well as a pie pan, although it's slightly larger than a standard pie crust. I wish Lodge would make a cast iron pie pan!

I used to have a problem with scrambling eggs in a teflon coated pan; The teflon would always scratch and get bits of it in my eggs. That doesn't happen with cast iron!

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely fabulous!   September 15, 2009

It's rare for me to be so enthused about something, but this skillet is ideal. The rounded surface makes it superior to all other cast iron pans available, as it is so easy to cook with and there are no inner edges for food to get stuck around. I've used it for pancakes, sauteeing/steaming vegetables, cooking meat, etc. With proper care, this is certainly a pan to last lifetimes. I also love that Lodge is still manufacturing their plain cast iron in the USA, although beware that their *enameled* cast iron is now produced in China. Better to go with Le Creuset for enamel.

But for a good skillet, look no further. You couldn't spend your money on a better tool.
