I had been using the $5 bota bag (from Wal-Mart) for many years. Recently purchased the Coleman Botabag for my hiking buddies. It turned out to be disaster. In the first hike itself, the bag started leaking and the side strap was torn! It may be one off case, but it became a pain to carry it in that hike. The quality of the cord and the cap also poor quality when compared to my $5 Wal-Mart bota bag. Not at all worth the price.

I bought this bag to take overseas, and made the mistake of not filling it before I left...When I was ready, I filled it with water, the water leaked out rappiclty from around where the top was attached...when I returned, as it was over a month and Amazon won't take a return. I wrote to Coleman, and they responded after several emails, and said if I filled out a form, and shipped it back at my expense, they would replace it. It only cost 8 bucks, and would cost me at least that to ship it. I wrote back that I thought they should pay the shipping, and they responded that I was out of luck, and perhaps I should try Amazon....I tell you that I will never buy a coleman product again, quality is terrible, and they have bad customer service....If I were you, I would give this company a wide berth.

I recently purchased this (sadly two of them actually) bota bag from coleman expecting a quality similar to that of other coleman products. When I got it, it looked great and when filled with water did a good job holding it...until you turned the bota upright to drink from it in which case a significant amount of water leaks out from where the mouth piece SHOULD be SEALED with the bag, causing nothing but mess.
