Tech Talk
Objective Lens: The diameter of the objective or front lens. The larger the objective lens, the more light that enters the binocular, and the brighter the image.

Field of View (F.O.V.): The side-to-side measurement of the circular viewing field or subject area. It is defined by the width in feet or meters of the area visible at 1000 yards or meters. A wide angle binocular features a wide field of view and is better for following action. Generally, the higher the magnification, the narrower the field of view.

Roof Prism System: In roof prism binoculars the prisms overlap closely, allowing the objective lenses to line up directly with the eyepiece. The result is a slim, stream-lined shape in which the lenses and prisms are in a straight line.

5 out of 5 stars Powerview 8x21 Compact   February 17, 2010

I purchased this for my husband as a last minute Xmas gift (he just HAD to have binoculars, which he announced last minute, on 12/21 !!). Surprisingly, they arrived before Santa, and he loves them!. They are small enough that they're able to fit in his pocket, yet strong enough to see pretty far into the distance, with good detail. Great product, great value!

5 out of 5 stars Fits in your Pocket   February 3, 2010

These busnell 8x21 model binoculars have been my sidekick at mutilple theatre experiences over the last 15 years. I picked them initially to fit in my pocket as I ushered at a large multi theatre complex in my city. They needed to fit in a blazer pocket so that I could do my assigned job , slide into a theatre seat and be ready to watch the performance. The ability to see the performers in close up detail from the last row, or the upper balcony, or even standing by the back wall caused me to rejoice in my choice. The magnification produced by these compact binoculars did the perfect job. I have reveled in the quality , magnification and compact size of these binoculars. Other ushers have admired them and I am ordering two more Busnell 8x21 model for friends who use the theatre. Good job Bushnell!

5 out of 5 stars Cheap but works very well   January 5, 2010

I bought my son a 8x21 rugged exposure binoculars from Big 5 for Xmas, but its quality was terrible. One of the eye piece fell off right away, so I ordered this Bushnell from Amazon as a replacement based on the superb reviews. And it is really great as others had reviewed. Lots clearer and easier to focus than the rugged exposure one. The built quality is also solid. My son also gave it 5 stars!

4 out of 5 stars Good for the money, but not the greatest   January 1, 2010

I got these along with a bird identifier book to start watching birds around where I live. For the money, they're a great buy, but I regret not going for the Bushnell Nature View ones that are supposed to magnify light to look at feathers and such. I also wear glasses and they don't comply with those to the best extent. I would say these are a good secondary pair of binoculars to leave in your car or ones to bring when you don't want to worry about ruining them.
