Great for mummy bags! February 8, 2010 Minimalist 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This sack is great for mummy bags and good quality low compression bags. It is NOT good for giant dinosaur bags you buy at Walmart. If you buy big cheap (<$50) bags, this is not for you. Try a garbage bag....only thing that will likely fit. This sack works great for mummy bags well up to 0 degree ratings. Buy a good compressible bag and this will do the trick. Don;t be an idiot and try to fit a big Coleman bag in here.
Coleman should be ashamed! November 8, 2009 Joy 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased 2 of these brand new on ebay because we have 2 Coleman sleeping bags that have no storage cases, only the clear plastic packaging they came in. I wanted something with some sort of handle where we might be able to put the sleeping bag and a pillow inside together for girl scouting. One of the sacks came with a split seam. I tried putting a sleeping bag inside the other sack and couldn't even get it in. I don't know what Coleman was thinking when they designed this bag, but all I can imagine fitting in it would be a little kid's junior size sleeping bag or just a really thin flimsy one. The sleeping bags we have are excellent in every way. They are at least 10 years old and in perfect condition. I naturally thought that the quality would be the same as they are both made by Coleman, but Coleman should be ashamed of this sleeping bag compression sack!!! It is useless! Thankfully, my ebay seller had compassion and refunded my money on the one with the split seam. I'd love to find a good quality one with a handle/carry strap on it. I may end up making my own!
Not so bad September 16, 2009 Albert W. Honaker (Saxon WV) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this item and a sleeping bag from Walmart. I took it on a 6700 mile motorcycle trip coast to coast then back. The first 1000 miles it was strapped to the front forks of my Harley. Then moved to the rear sissy bar for the rest of the trip. I pulled my sleeping bag out a few times with no real issue. My buckles worked ok when i compressed the bag to a firm state. I never compressed it to a hard state. It protected my sleeping bag well, saved a little storage space, and made moving my sleeping bag around a lot easier. It worked well for what I entended it for. As long as you are not expecting to much out of the bag, it will work fine. Remember, you get what you pay for. Other bags cost twice as much, but also handle twice as much abuse.
Compression Bag August 19, 2009 cmart 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I busted the buckel on a strap during the first time I closed my sleeping bag inside. The first time I opened the compression sack I grabbed the bottom to jerk out the sleeping bag and the bottom tore completely off the compression bag.
MAYBE worth it if it's free. July 10, 2009 Mat (Baltimore, MD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading a few bad reviews of this "compression" sack I decided to to just go for it. It was pretty cheap and I thought it couldn't be nearly as bad as I had read. It is that bad. It night be worse. At first glance I knew this thing wouldn't hold up to any amount of use, let alone abuse. After putting my coleman sleeping bag in the sack pulling the top shut, I started to pull the compression straps. The first one snapped off at the plastic. I ended up just tying it together. The other two held up for the first hike out. However, one more plastic bit broke off on the hike back. Now only one remains and I just tie 'em all tight. Not to mention that this doesn't compress much at all. All in all, spend a little more and buy something you will actually be able to use.
