I bought this product because we have a convertible car seat for our infant and as a result don't have an infant carrier like one would have with an infant car seat. I thought this would be a good substitute, but it isn't. Although the carrier itself is cute and seems nice and warm, our son HATES being strapped into it, I think because he can't use his arms. Unlike a car seat infant carrier, it lacks a stable base -- its underside is essentially fabric with a thin back board. Because of this, you can't use it like a car seat carrier, that is, you can't place the infant on the floor, a bench or chair, or in a shopping cart and expect them to be stable and safe. Thus, this really is solely for carrying infants, nothing more. Also, I've found people think the carrier looks strange. When I first took my son to day care, they thought I was delivering food -- the carrier looks a lot like a puffy carrier for keeping food warm. I find that it's easier and better just to carry my son in my arms than to use this.
