Product Description
Perfect for multi-day adventures, the Mountainsmith Cross Country 3.0 Recycled internal frame backpack offers 4302 cubic inches of storage space. The Cross Country 3.0 Recycled is a reliable, functional "green" alternative to traditional packs. Mountainsmith is pleased to be an industry leader in the move towards sustainable construction. Reflecting Mountainsmith's commitment to using reclaimed materials whenever possible, the Cross Country 3.0 Recycled is constructed of PET Recycled fabric, a material woven from threads produced from 100% recycled plastic beverage bottles. Utilizing Mountainsmith's patented Load Dispersion Technology (LDT) suspension system, the Cross Country 3.0 Recycled is designed to comfortably haul heavy loads. Twin aluminum stays cross in an "X"-pattern, efficiently distributing weight, providing better load control and increasing flexibility by creating a central pivot point. A dual-density, molded backpanel is channeled to allow air to circulate, keeping your back cool and dry while in the backcountry. The Cross Country 3.0 Recycled's suspension is adjustable to fit a torso range of 18-22". A dual density waistbelt is reinforced with supportive plastic. Firm foam supports pack weight and provides cushioning under the load while softer foam nestles close to the body, conforming to the contours of your hips. The suspension is wrapped in an airmesh fabric that wicks moisture. Adjustable shoulder straps, load-lifter straps and an adjustable sternum strap further enhance fit and comfort. Side and bottom compression straps allow you to cinch down your load for better stability and maneuverability. You can reach the packbag of the Cross Country 3.0 Recycled through top and front access points. A huge "U"-shaped zipper throws the front of the pack wide open, enabling you to quickly put hands on contents without having to completely unload the packbag. The top lid houses a pocket for further storage and a clear panel/packet allows you to view

The backpack is also prepared for inclement weather, with a large rain cover for moisture protection, a water-resistant clear map case, and a collared storm shield with a drawcord closure for stormy days. 4 out of 5 stars Great traveling pack   April 10, 2010
Travs (Knoxville, TN USA)
I've taken this pack on some multi-mile walks with around 25-30 lbs in it and it seems to hold up great. The day pack is nice bonus since I'm taking it to Europe and won't be stuck with the lame fanny packs that most bags give you. Zippers are also big and solid metal so they will work well for locking up securely. More then enough space for all I need and the price was great. Maybe not as much hip belt padding as some of the highest end packs but it's certainly comfortable to me.

3 out of 5 stars Nice pack, BUT...   March 16, 2010

This pack has a very practical design, but the first time I used it one of the bottle holder bungys broke, then the other one broke while I was showing it to a friend at home. It may have to go back for a repair.

5 out of 5 stars Best Pack for the right Adventure   November 10, 2009

A breath of fresh air! This is what I would describe the MountainSmith Cross Country 3.0

I went on a 4 day excursion into the back country. After packing it almost full between 40-50 lbs which I later altered and reduced the weight it was a surprisingly comfortable amount of weight and it balances well when organized correctly. I really like the outer zipper leading to the main compartment so I don't have to tear open the top or dig from the bottom to the middle. The small daypack is great. I went mountain biking that same weekend and decided to use the small daypack as a Camelbak and just stuck my hydro bladder in along with some snacks and it worked great. One of the days I decided to take off the top compartment along with the day pack and it significantly reduced the weight of the pack. It's very comfortable, but make sure to fit it to your body before going so you don't have to hassle with it while trying to enjoy the great outdoors.

Overall I would rate this pack a 4 1/2 out of 5. The reason I give it just the half is because it is a little heavier than I like but the comfort and the price make up for it all. It is a durable pack and I used every aspect of the pack on a 4 day trip.

Happy Trekking!
