High Sierra Passport October 23, 2009 Larry Pratt 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the perfect traveling companion. In a time when airlines are charging for checked luggage, you can carry this pack on. You don't have to worry about lost luggage or pay someone to carry it for you. This will be my "suitcase" for many years to come.
Very handy, love this bag! October 20, 2009 Khristeena M. Lute I bought this bag and traveled to France with just this one bag- and it worked perfectly fine. No rips, no tears, comfortable on my back (I'm a 5'4" woman). It does not have the padding to protect a laptop, but there's plenty of room for everything else. Now, it's my preferred bag of choice, even over my "classier" carry-on bags.
Rugged and Roomy October 19, 2009 Ken Martin (Midway USA) I purchased one of these and took it as a second bag on our two week trip to Europe this fall. It functioned really well as a large day pack and to carry items I wanted to be able to get my hands on quickly. Overall, I was very pleased with this bag.
On the plus side, the bag is very well constructed and the materials are great. I had no zipper failures or any problems of that kind. The bag is really roomy and held extra clothing, a camera, netbook, books and snacks with room to spare. The zippered cover on back allows the bag to be converted from a backpack to a shoulder bag. The velcro'ed pocket on bottom stows the flap away quick and easy. Nice design!
The hip belt and chest strap provided a comfortable, stable ride. I'm tall (6'3") and the straps were adjustable to fit me fine. The bag includes a large exterior pocket for incidentals that will easily hold a book or kindle. A small top pocket is available for ipods or other small items.
Small complaint: The lack of a laptop pocket. Another exterior pouch would have been handy, but that's not a big deal. Overall, this bag is recommended for travelers on a short trip or as a substantial second bag.
Works great! September 9, 2009 C. George I used this for a month trip to switzerland and italy and a 10 day trip to the bahamas using ONLY this backpack. Extremely comfortable on longer walks... and blends in to the crowd very well. I did have one of the internal compression strap connectors (little plastic clip) break on me, because I was way over tightening it. This backpack also meets carryon size for pretty much all airlines. I've never had a problem getting into the overhead bins. I'm planning to buy another one of these for my fiance on a trip to spain/france next year. I do recommend getting a smaller backpack with it... I use rick steves little backpack whenever I need to travel a little lighter and for day trips.
Not as strong as you would expect August 4, 2009 Archana Bali (Fairbanks, Alaska) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Oh I am not happy with it - the stitches came off and the material in front looks so worn out, all this is less than 6 months' of careful use. This looks good and all that jazz, but not a strong bag. There is a lot of space in there, but be careful the bag cant handle a lot of weight.. only for light and easy stuff.
