Didn't stop tsetse flies, may need to use more. February 11, 2010 D. Ng (Queens, NY) Overall good product. I think you may need to soak your clothing in this stuff in order to get the full effect.
During my trip to Tanzania in the Tarangire National Park, my friends and I were still attacked by hoards of Tsetse flies which if you look up online have the potential to carry the fatal African Sleeping virus. While I had few bites than others, I had one incident where a tsetse fly did bite me through my shirt treated with this Permethrin product. To be fair, I did spray my clothes thoroughly but I didn't soak it as much as the instructions required me to. I still recommend this product, just make sure you spray enough of it on your clothes. Also purchase "Ultrathon" for your skin. It was highly effective. The flies and other biting insects though still found areas where application of the cream was missed. Dang they are good. Good luck.
Bug forcefield February 6, 2010 Scott Bussell (Berkeley, CA USA) This product kept all types of bugs away when I was in the amazon. Those with me kept getting bit but I was safe. High recommend it.
Best product out there September 16, 2009 W. Rodabaugh (Painter, VA USA) I have used this before and have found it to be 100% effective (if you follow the directions). Make sure you read them and understand that this product is not just another "bug spray". Only use on clothes and make sure you let it dry! I am in the woods a lot in the summer months and would not think of entering them without first treating my clothes, boots and headgear with this product. Also I use it during hunting season, especially archery when the bugs are the worst! No chigger bites and mosquito's won't spend more than a second on you if at all. Best of all for us hunters is that there is no smell or odor. I just wish I could buy it locally!
Works great but be careful when applying August 13, 2009 Stephen J. Pearsall (Hampstead, NH USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This stuff works great against mosquitoes and ticks and is safe when dry but extreme care needs to be used when spraying it on your clothes. You want to make sure you don't get any on your skin, that you don't breathe in any of the spray particles. It is also extremely toxic to cats so if you have a kitty you want to be extremely careful that you apply it in a place where kitty can't get near it. Once it dries it is a lot less dangerous to mammals but is still very toxic to insects.
This works, but.... July 2, 2009 B. Ray 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
While on an extended camping/hiking/fishing trip along Lake Superior, the black flies and mosquitoes were, bloodthirsty. We used this product works and it works well at keeping the bugs at bay. While this repellent works well at keeping the bugs at bay, it is time consuming to apply to clothing, because of the wait time for the repellent to dry. It would be best to apply the repellent on clothing days before entering the wild, rather than at the site. This product works well on window and tent screens as well as clothing.
